Looking For Stock Exchange Basics - Here Are Some Basic Facts

A stock exchange is a place where different stocks and securities are traded using online and other mediums. Thousands of stocks change hands every day and their prices keep on changing because of variable demand and supply conditions.

NYSE is the greatest among the twenty stock markets running nowadays. It has the largest number of trades and the gross value of transactions. Earlier, we used to see various persons speaking loud and dealing shares in the crowded stock exchange floors during the day.

The system has been mostly computerized now and most of the iconic images of the stock exchange have been substituted by computing machines. After this change, trading can be finished quickly and more efficiently.

All public companies have stocks and their stock price is determined by how good they do. Every time there is a regular dip in the stock market, it represents a hard state of the economic system. On the other hand, the economic system is said to be good when the stock market moves up.

The very first stock markets actually opened hundreds of years ago in medieval France, so this is by no means a new system. Back then banks bought and traded debts from agricultural communities in order to regulate and manage their securities. The idea of organizations being listed on the marketplace was first started by the Dutch in the early 1600s.

By the end of the 17th century, the idea of a stock exchange got a lot of popularity. Then the markets were established everywhere and different companies started trading their stocks to raise money.

After the onslaught of globalization, the number of stock exchanges has really been cut down.
